1. The board has twelve numbered spots
Each spot has a current price and one current owner or is available. An available spot begins at the displayed starting price. Prices and ownership shown in the browser may change while another customer is purchasing.
2. Pay the valid takeover price and the spot becomes yours
To take an occupied spot, you must complete a valid payment at or above the current required takeover level. The default minimum increase is displayed in the purchase flow and may be changed globally by TAKEOVER.
When a valid takeover completes, the previous owner's placement ends for that spot. The previous owner is not ordinarily refunded merely because another advertiser paid more.
3. Multiple spots must connect
A multi-spot purchase must form one connected territory: every selected cell must connect to the selection through an edge-touching chain. Diagonal contact alone does not count.
If you already own cells included in a larger purchase, those cells remain yours and do not create a second charge merely for being included in the new connected selection.
4. Multiple spots can be Combined or Divided
Combined turns touching owned cells into the largest clean rectangular creative areas the current board permits. A combined block with at least two cells may show a short description, one offer or pricing line, and one feature image in addition to the advertiser's company identity, logo, and website.
Divided keeps every owned cell visually separate with its own visible boundary and compact presentation. An owner may switch the display preference for their currently owned spots from My Spots.
5. Combined territory automatically reflows when ownership changes
Combined ads are based on the cells the advertiser owns right now, not the shape originally purchased. If another advertiser takes part of a combined placement, TAKEOVER recalculates the remaining geometry automatically.
If two combined cells become one, the remaining cell automatically falls back to the compact single-spot presentation. If an irregular larger territory is broken apart, TAKEOVER builds the largest clean remaining rectangles it can and displays any leftover single cells compactly. This prevents missing pieces, stretched content, or an ad pretending to occupy space it no longer owns.
6. Owners may defend a spot
A current owner may raise the level of a spot they own. When TAKEOVER offers the defense control, the owner pays the disclosed difference between the existing level and the new level. A defense does not create permanent ownership; another advertiser can later pay the next valid takeover price.
7. Owning all twelve creates a full-page takeover
A successful purchase resulting in ownership of all twelve spots activates the displayed full-page presentation and a 24-hour protection period. During that period, competing takeovers are blocked unless TAKEOVER must intervene for moderation, security, payment, legal, or operational reasons.
After the protection period expires, the owner continues to hold the page until a competitor validly takes at least one spot. Once a spot is lost, the display automatically returns to the geometry supported by the remaining ownership.
8. The server resolves simultaneous purchases
Opening Stripe Checkout does not reserve a spot. TAKEOVER revalidates ownership, current prices, and full-page protection when a paid transaction completes. If two customers pursue the same territory, the first transaction that validly completes against the current board wins.
If a payment completes after the quoted territory has become stale, TAKEOVER is designed to reject the stale assignment and automatically refund the affected payment rather than overwrite a valid newer owner. See the Payments Policy for details.
9. Content rules are deliberately relaxed
TAKEOVER is not intended to police taste. Weird, ugly, provocative, competitive, sarcastic, annoying, unconventional, or unpopular advertising is generally allowed. Advertisers remain solely responsible for the legality and accuracy of what they publish and for their dealings with visitors.
The operator may manually reset a spot only for the narrow emergency categories described in the Advertising Content Policy: fraud or scams; malware, phishing, or malicious redirects; illegal or clearly dangerous activity; impersonation or serious rights abuse; credible threats or material safety concerns; or another comparably serious legal or platform risk.
A reset returns the affected spot to available. Moderation actions may be privately logged with a reason. A reset does not automatically create a refund right, and the existence of this power does not mean TAKEOVER pre-screens or continuously monitors every ad.
Report a serious problem: Use the Contact page with the spot number, advertiser name, and why you believe it crosses one of the narrow red lines above.
10. The board is not guaranteed to operate forever
TAKEOVER may pause purchases, temporarily take the page offline, migrate infrastructure, modify the board, or permanently discontinue all or part of the service for maintenance, security, legal, provider, technical, financial, business, or other operational reasons.
A spot purchase does not create a right to force TAKEOVER, its operator, the domain, or the board to remain online. Temporary downtime does not automatically extend a placement or a 24-hour protection period. If the service permanently ends, remaining placement rights end with it. Refund treatment is governed by the Payments Policy and applicable law.
